We are…Little League Baseball Coaches and Soccer coaches.
We are…United Way volunteers, Firemen, and Emergency Medical Technicians.
We are…on County Zoning Boards and on the City Council.  Some of us are, or have been, the mayor of our town.
We are…Moms and Dads and sisters and brothers that live in the communities where we work.

For these reasons, we take our commitment to our community, to the environment and to the safety of our employees and the people in and around our work areas very seriously.

Environment

Our professional and experienced environmental affairs staff supports all of our companies concerning compliance with environmental rules and regulations along with obtaining all the necessary permits for project construction and operation.  Our staff is also involved with the reporting and disposal of hazardous waste.

Safety: Every day in every way

Employee safety is a core value of our group of companies.  Safety is not a program or a department within WBI Holdings, it is a shared culture. The foundation of this culture is found in the 13 local safety committees in place throughout all of the WBI Holdings’ operations.

Community

We feel an obligation to give back to the communities where we live and work.  We give of our time and talents encouraged by a policy that allows employees to take one day of work off a year for a volunteer service activity of their choice.

WBI Holdings makes a positive impact in a variety of ways in the communities where it conducts business. The salaries paid to over 600 employees, federal, state and local taxes it pays, the charitable donations it provides, the infrastructure and equipment investments all are among the ways WBI Holdings makes a positive impact.

Charitable Activities

WBI Holdings, through the corporation’s philanthropic arm – the MDU Resources Foundation – also has given back to the communities it serves through contributions totaling more than $13 million to worthwhile charities and organizations. WBI Holdings is proud to support qualified organizations that enhance quality of life.
